Best of the Week

Yet another week gone by so fast. It's been a shorter work week, as I only had to work for four days, had the Friday off, which meant a long and relaxing weekend for me. It wasn't such an eventful one as the previous had been, still there were quite a few highlights.

In the middle of the week I managed to snatch a last minute half price ticket to the local performance of Mamma Mia by Madách Színház. I had been yearning to go since the dates were announced back in spring, but I found the tickets way too pricy. As it turns out, the remaining empty seats were sold 50% off, and I managed to put my hands on one right in front of the stage in the second row. The performance itself was an utterly fun and entertaining one, I am so glad I went and saw it. I even met one of my old friends from the college/dorm days after not seeing each other for over 6 years. He was one of the dancers on the stage, and during the grand finale when cast asks the audience to get up to sing and dance and the dancers come off stage, I run up to him and surprised him. We were really happy to see each other after all these years, had  a big hug and I even danced for an entire song right in front of the stage (and in front a thousands of people) which is so unlike me, but it felt so good.

I have been quite obsessed with photography lately, which is a really good thing because it's bringing me so much joy. I finally switched to shooting is RAW which I obviously should have done years ago when I got this DSLR camera, but I never really cared so far. This weekend I finally sat the file format to RAW, then it took me some time to figure out what to do with the files to be able to edit them, but boy, am I glad to have taken the time. The quality of the images is way better, I am also still in love with my 35mm prime lens and the super pretty bokeh pictures it takes. I have also been watching quite a few tutorial videos on photography both on Skillshare and Youtube and I find them so inspiring. They really make me want to grab my camera and go try out all the new tricks that I have just learned. I really want to take my photography skills to the next level and bring the best out of the equipment I got. I am also yearning to get a new lens, a Sigma 17-70 mm f2.8 one, as it would be such a game changer for travel and urban, everyday and portrait photos compared to the kit lens I got. It is bit pricy though, and I am not ready (and really should not) spend this much on a lens, but I might keep my eye out for a used one and buy it much cheaper second hand. Anyway, I have really been enjoying playing around with my camera and taking loads of bokeh shots, there are definitely tons to follow in the winter months.

This weekend I also tried out a new recipe, this time I baked pumpkin chocolate chip cookies, a skinnier, sugarfree version. It turned out pretty good and tasty, I obviously had to take numerous photos of it, just to try out my new photography tricks. Recipe soon to follow in a separate post.

Norah Jones is out with a new song titled Wintertime and I have been listen to it non-stop. It feels that winter time is, indeed, here and here to stay for a few months. Yesterday I pulled my trusty old winter coat out of the back of my wardrobe and put it on the first time in the season. I better dig up a pair of gloves as well, because it's super chilly outside and... it's supposed to SNOW today! It will probably be a light drizzle followed by loads of disgusting cold rain, but really, I will take it if I can see some pretty snowflakes just for five minutes.
