for the love of autumn

"don't you love new york in the fall? it makes me wanna buy school supplies. i would send you a bouquet of newly sharpened pencils if i knew your name and address."
if you don't know where that quote came from you should be ashamed of yourself watch this very movie asap. alas, i don't belong to those lucky who get to spend the fall in new york, but still, the season is quite pretty in my neck of the woods as well.
so, as l.m. montgomery pointed out:

“i'm so glad I live in a world where there are octobers.”
i love love love autumn, and i am really glad that the days have become super autumny, with chilly and foggy mornings, bright blue sky and crispy air in the afternoons, and cool, dark but starry nights with a pinch of cold winter scent in the air. here's what i really adore about autumn:

*the color orange* listening to jazz, especially diana krall * long walks in the park or in the forest * lighting tea candles in the evening * wearing oxford shoes and colorful scarves * warm and cosy cardigans * cooking comfort food, esp. cream soups * looking for new recipes to try out * baking at the weekend * knitting * drinking coffee latte in the morning * sipping enormous cups of tea in the evening * painting my nails dark colours * the scent of the night * wandering around at the market * movie marathons in the evening * the scent of smoke in the air * taking nice photos of the colorful nature * all things pumpkin *

here's the list of things i am planning to do in the coming month:

  • take lots and lots of photos of fallen leaves
  • carve a pumpkin
  • go hiking
  • go on bicycle ride with my sister
  • decorate for halloween
  • watch all my favorite romcoms
  • collect colorful leaves and press them
  • drink endless cups of tea
  • play in the leaves with the little kitten at grandma's
  • make pumpkin spice latte & indulge in it
  • bake carrot cake
  • bake choc chip pumpkin cookies and caramel stuffed apple cider cookies
  • knit a pair of socks and a pair of mittens

now i am off to the market to hunt down some pumpkin, then the great saturday afternoon baking marathon shall kick off. have a lovely weekend & enjoy some of my favorite photos of the season:
