in my mailbox (3)

source

well, this week's in my mailbox is a bit scanty, as i did not buy, borrow, or receive any volumes in the past week. in fact, because i have so many borrowed books stacked up on my shelf, i did not even go to the library in the last few days.
so, instead of newly acquired items, here's what i am reading these days:

  • one fifth avenue by candace bushnell - standing in front of the bookshelf and looking for some easy-read chic-flick yesterday evening, my finger wandered to the spine of this book. this is exactly what i was in the mood for, so i took it off the shelf and opened up the cover. after being abandoned and waiting to be read for at least a couple of years, i finally dove in and got lost in between the lines of bushnell's novel about the manhattan elite living on fifth avenue.
  • mondják meg zsófikának by szabó magda - i have been reading this book for about 3 weeks - maybe even more? i must have started it early october. but i am stuck at page 250. there's no flow, the narration is obnoxious. surely, this is really not the finest work of szabó magda. i really should pull myself together and finish it in the next few days though.
  • coco chanel by axel madsen - it's another one of those that i got stuck with and i am struggling to move on. this one i started sometime in the middle of september, but then a couple of weeks later i put it down and now i just can't pick it up again. coco chanel is, indeed, an utterly interesting and clearly inspiring person whose life is definetely worth reading about. but i might not be interested in her life in such detail.
so what have you been reading lately?

in my mailbox is a weekly meme originally hosted by the story siren, in which book bloggers post about the books they have bought, borrowed or received in the past week. since it began it has become fairly popular, and numerous book blogs post their weekly in my mailbox meme.

  2. A Szabó Magda könyvet még a nagymamám olvasta fel nekem, nagyon szeretem. Én épp mindjárt a végére érek Emile Ajar-tól az Előttem az életnek, put it on your list, szerintem nagyon szép történet, ésésés befejeztem a Julie and Julia és annyira csodálatos volt, hogy ma majdnem megvettem Julia Childtól a My life in France-t.

P.s. Coach Eric Taylor is on the road.

  3. P.s.s. Tegnap megnéztük az On the roadot mert rájöttünk, hogy nálunk nem fogják moziban adni, és egyszerűen ZSENIÁLIS az a film.

  4. @Andi: Yes,I saw it, that got me more interested in Chanel. I will rewatch it once I'm done with the book.
@Zsófi: felírtam az Ajart a never ending listre. Majd odaadom a My Life in France-ot, ha szeretnéd. Az is tök jó, sőt, (talán) még jobb is, mint a J&J. Feladtad a könyvet?
Ó, már fent van a neten az On the Road?:O Sürgősen meg kell néznem! (most már lassan tényleg írok neked!! meg Andi neked is.)

  5. Yep, feladtam a könyvet. A My life in France-t szeretném. Bociszemekkel szeretném. Visszaírok hétvégén (ó, és milyen jó hogy az már holnap elkezdődik). Az On the road-t meg mindenképp, nekem még Ms Bambasággal is tetszett.
